Below is a link to the video of Obama greeting the returning war dead.

http://www.freedomslighthouse.com/2009/10/president-obama-makes-middle-of-night.html

I’m sorry, but this has got to be the worst case of hipocracy that I have ever seen.  For this man, who is supposedly the Commander in Chief of our armed forces, not to “rush” to a decision on whether to send more troops to Afghanistan and then, to “secretly” show up at Dover AFB to greet our war dead for a photo op makes me physically sick to my stomach.

He lifted the media ban on our returning war dead so that he could have this photo op, to do what?  Make it look like he really does care about our troops dying over there? How dare he.  He has absolutely no right to be in the presence of our returning heroes until he acts like the Commander in Chief that he was elected to be.

I didn’t agree with everything George Bush did, but he had much more respect for our soldiers than this President will ever have.

God Bless America and God Bless Our Troops!

We all remember where we were on September 11, 2001.  I had called in sick to work and was on the couch watching Fox News.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.  What had we done to deserve this?  We had not had an attack like this on American soil since Pearl Harbor.

To see the airplanes flying into our  very symbols of freedom and military strength, and to think about what the people in those buildings were going through was more than most of us could handle.  The people on Flight 93, who took it upon themselves to sacrifice their own lives to save the lives of others.  These are Americans.  These are our people, be they Democrat or Republican.

Now, here we are, eight years later.  Some of us have forgotten what happened that day and why it happened.  The United States did nothing to precipitate this attack.  There are people that say we had it coming, but those people have no integrity.

We now have a President, who travels the world apologizing for the United States and our supposed faults.  He doesn’t consider all that we have done for the world in terms of protection and humanitarian aid.  We are not a perfect nation.  But if we were not the greatest nation on the Earth, we wouldn’t have immigrants, from all walks of life, trying to become part of it.

There are things that our former President did wrong, but when it came to protecting this country and her people, I believe he did the best he could.  He did not apologize for us, nor did he say that this is what we had coming.  This vicious attack was carried out by people who just don’t like us very much.

Our First Lady made the comment that for the first time she was proud of her country.  There is not a day that goes by that I am not proud of my country.  We need to remember, especially today, what makes this country great and how proud we are to be Americans.  This is a day of remembrance.  A day to feel proud to be a part of the greatest country in the world.

I got this in an e-mail and thought is was worth reprinting.  I don’t know who the author is.

We’re hearing a lot today about big splashy memorial services. I want a nationwide memorial service for Darrell “Shifty” Powers. Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Infantry. If you’ve seen Band of Brothers on HBO or the History Channel, you know Shifty. His character appears in all 10 episodes, and Shifty himself is interviewed in several of them.

I met Shifty in the Philadelphia airport several years ago. I didn’t know who he was at the time. I just saw an elderly gentleman having trouble reading his ticket. I offered to help, assured him that he was at the right gate, and noticed the “Screaming Eagle”, the symbol of the 101st Airborne, on his hat. Making conversation, I asked him if he’d been in the 101st Airborne or if his son was serving. He said quietly that he had been in the 101st. I thanked him for his service, then asked him when he served, and how many jumps he made. Quietly and humbly, he said “Well, I guess I signed up in 1941 or so, and was in until sometime in 1945 . . . ” at which point my heart skipped. At that point, again, very humbly, he said “I made the 5 training jumps at Toccoa, and then jumped into Normandy . . . . do you know where Normandy is?” At this point my heart stopped. I told him yes, I know exactly where Normandy was, and I know what D-Day was. At that point he said “I also made a second jump into Holland, into Arnhem.” I was standing with a genuine war hero . . . . and then I realized that it was June, just after the anniversary of D-Day. I asked Shifty if he was on his way back from France, and he said “Yes. And it’s real sad because these days so few of the guys are left, and those that are, lots of them can’t make the trip.” My heart was in my throat and I didn’t know what to say.

I helped Shifty get onto the plane and then realized he was back in Coach, while I was in First Class. I sent the flight attendant back to get him and said that I wanted to switch seats. When Shifty came forward, I got up out of the seat and told him I wanted him to have it, that I’d take his in coach. He said “No, son, you enjoy that seat. Just knowing that there are still some who remember what we did and still care is enough to make an old man very happy.” His eyes were filling up as he said it. And mine are brimming up now as I write this.

Shifty died on June 17, 2009 after fighting cancer. There was no parade. No big event in Staples Center. No wall to wall back to back 24×7 news coverage. No weeping fans on television. And that’s not right. Let’s give Shifty his own Memorial Service, online, in our own quiet way.

I don’t know who wrote this, but it is a history lesson we should all have.

One detail that is never mentioned is that in Washington , D.C. there can never be a building of greater height than the Washington Monument.  With all the uproar about removing the Ten Commandments, etc., this is worth a moment or two of your time.  I was not aware of this amazing historical information.

On the aluminum cap, atop the Washington Monument in Washington , D.C. , are displayed two words: Laus Deo.  No one can see these words.  In fact, most visitors to the monument are totally unaware they are even there and for that matter, probably couldn’t care less.

Once you know Laus Deo’s history , you will want to share this with everyone you know.  These words have been there for many years; they are 555 feet, 5.125 inches high, perched atop the monument, facing skyward to the Father of our nation, overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia , capital of the United States of America.

Laus Deo!  Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words. Out of sight and, one might think, out of mind, but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the most successful nation in the world.
So, what do those two words, in Latin, composed of just four syllables and only seven letters, possibly mean?  Very simply, they say ‘ Praise be to God!’

Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848, when James Polk was President of the United States , it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public.  It took twenty-five years to finally cap the memorial with a tribute to the Father of our nation, Laus Deo ‘Praise be to God!’

From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure, visitors may take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments.  From that vantage point, one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l’Enfant ..a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape, with the White House to the north. The Jefferson Memorial is to the south, the Capitol to the east and the Lincoln Memorial to the west.

A cross you ask?  Why a cross?  What about separation of church and state?

Yes, a cross; separation of church and state was not, is not, in the Constitution.  So, read on. How interesting and, no doubt, intended to carry a profound meaning for those who bother to notice.

Praise be to God!  Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings.  As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message.

On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore ; on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!

When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God!  Such was the discipline, the moral direction, and the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy ‘One Nation, Under God.’

I am awed by Washington ’s prayer for America Have you ever read it? Well, now is your unique opportunity, so read on!

“Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Laus Deo!

When one stops to observe the inscriptions found in public places all over our nation’s capitol, he or she will easily find the signature of God, as it is unmistakably inscribed everywhere you look. You may forget the width and height of ‘Laus Deo ‘, its location, or the architects but no one who reads this will be able to forget its meaning, or these words: ‘Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain.  Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.’  (Psalm 127: 1)
AMEN!

I honestly believe that God has a plan for everyone’s life.  I am a Christian, and I believe that Christ died for my sins.  I am not one to question the plan of God.   But I do have some questions regarding the recent events that have taken place in my life.

On September 27, 1994, my step-father (he was much more than that) passed away of a massive heart attack at age 45.  He died 19 days before my oldest daughter was born.  I did see good things come out of that.  I was living in Texas at the time, and with his death, my mother relocated to Texas and was able to be there for the birth of my daughter.  We became best friends.  If my step-father had not died, I do not believe that my mother and I would have had that relationship.

On March 4, my 56-year-old mother passed away, according to the coroner, from complications due to pneumonia.  This was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through in my entire life.  I do not wish this pain and sadness on my worst enemy.

Yesterday, I got the news that my step-sister committed suicide.  She was 38 years old with two children and a beautiful grand-daughter.

I am trying to understand why these things have happened, but have yet to come to a reasonable conclusion.  God will not give you more than you can handle, and what He brings you to, He will bring you through.  But for now, I just want to take a Xanax and go to bed.

I have been gone for a while due to the death of my mother and my new infatuation with Twitter.  I just read a very good blog on redstate.com by someone named Warner Todd Huston entitled “I Am A Tired American”.  It really expresses the way I feel and I’m sure, a majority of the people in this country feel as well.

We are tired of having to defend ourselves for our beliefs, the way we teach our children, our faith and our love of this country.  We are also tired of being treated like unintelligent, unsophisticated “children” because we live in the flyover states instead of on the east or west coast.  We are the people that go to work every day so that Washington can raise our taxes to pay their salaries.

I try to teach my children love of God and country, but they hear music that degrades our previous President and see T.V. shows that portray burning the American flag as “patriotic”.  I teach them to respect the American soldier, and they hear people in our own government calling them thugs.

We have a government and a President that are out of control with their spending bills and their taxation.  Obama travels to Europe for the G20 and calls us arrogant? Arrogance is defined as an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manor or in presumptuous claims or assumptions.  And he should know.  The politicians act as if we don’t exist.  Like we didn’t hire them, and we cannot fire them.  In my opinion, it is time to prove just who has the power in this country and vote these people out of office.  They need to understand that they cannot step all over the Constitution, make laws that the American people do not agree with and treat us like we need their guidance and interference in everything that we do.

In a new Harris Poll (who is Harris anyway) of 2634 Americans (not from the Bible belt obviously), Obama is more popular than Jesus.  Does this scare anybody else?

Here is some news for all the left-wing nut jobs in this country……Obama is only a man.  I know, it’s hard to believe.  He’s going to come in and make your house payment and fill your gas tank, but that does not make him Christ.  Sorry to burst your bubble.

My new favorite quote goes something like, “Only two people have offered to die for you…..Jesus Christ and the American soldier.”  To me, they should top the “Heroes” list long before B. Hussein.

Forget metal detectors in schools.  I want decontamination chambers.

I am a stay-at-home mom, and I keep my 3-year-old home because I don’t want her little brain indoctrinated at an early age, but also, I’m trying to keep her away from the germs that are spread in our lovely public schools.  My oldest comes home with the latest stomach virus that is floating around the school and very nicely passes it on to me.

In my opinion, they should all be sprayed down with Lysol as they are exiting the school.  But, what do I know?

I just spent the last hour and a half listening to Rush speak at CPAC on YouTube.  I thought what he had to say was something that the Republican Party needed to hear.  That our rights are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (with not all results being equal), and that we are given these right by God and not the federal government.  That, as conservatives, we don’t have to try and remember what our beliefs are, because they are ingrained.

Then, I read an article on FoxNews.com about Rahm Emanuel talking to the liberal media on “Face the Nation” on how Limbaugh is the intellectual force of the GOP and the Republicans now have to live with that choice.  And he thinks this is a bad thing?

He makes it sound like Rush is deliberately setting out to destroy “The Messiah”.  Anyone that listens to something besides CBS, NBC or ABC knows that Rush is not on a mission, but he does not want Obama’s policies to succeed because of the detrimental effect it will have on our country as a whole.
